"Ice cream, I scream"

Hey folks, welcome to my second blog. It's Mother's Day and I would want to wish all the mothers out there a very happy Mother's Day!
This encounter written below was a funny experience I had when I was 9 years and my mom taught me a lesson unforgettable for life.
A picture I had clicked during my visit to Goa. This  was the picture that brought back memories and provoked me to write this encounter.

It was summer holidays and the day was Rama Navami, scorching heat and I craved ice cream everyday of summer holidays and that's when I started asking my dad for money so that I can go buy ice cream and satisfy myself. I had to pester him for almost an hour. My dad never said no to anything I asked for but since it was Rama Navami, he said I should have the ice cream after having lunch. It was a festive lunch and I had to eat less so that there was ample space in my stomach for ice cream.
As soon as lunch was done, I washed my hands and went and stood in front of my dad, puppy eyed, so that he fulfils my wish quickly, but he said he was very full and he couldn't accompany me to the local supermarket to buy me ice cream. He said "Let's go later, first let me sleep", as a kid, those words hurt me a lotml. I wondered what could be more important than ice cream on a summer afternoon. I was such an adamant kid, if my dad promised me ice cream after lunch, I had to get ice cream after lunch or else I would go around the house with a frown face and not talk to people for hours. Since my dad was almost asleep, I put on my frown face and didn't talk to anyone in the house. Noticing this, my dad finally agreed to give me money, which I gladly put into my small pockets in my shorts. But he wouldn't send me alone to the supermarket, hence, asked my aunt to assist me there. Thus, my happy journey to the supermarket began.
My aunt and I strolled jollily to Foodworld, which was just two minutes away from my house. Upon reaching the supermarket I noticed that the ice cream freezer was placed at the entrance itself. I stood still in front of it staring right at the chocobar on the top. My head was right above the counter and I could see everything without trouble, as I reached out for the ice cream, I found out that the freezer was locked. I didn't understand the logic why it was locked. My aunt went in search of help while I was drooling over the chocobar I was about to devour right after the freezer was opened. My aunt found a store assistant and they opened the freezer. This is the epicenter of the story. As soon as the freezer door was opened, I reached out to my chocobar, shouted "ice cream, ice cream!!!" Jumped out of joy and ran straight out of the supermarket to my house with the money in my pockets and my aunt stuck with the assistant in the store. Neither me nor my aunt carried cellphones.
I reached my house and started eating the good ice cream that I had just stolen from the supermarket without realising it was a theft. Everyone in the house thought that I must have ran to the house in excitement and they didn't ask me where my aunt was. After a few minutes there was a knock on the front door. That's when I lifted my head to hear the most terrifying knock in my life. I had realized that whatever I did was wrong. My aunt with the store representative had arrived, the representative accusing me of stealing ice cream and they found my house with the help of my aunt who was helpless the moment I ran away. My mom became furious but she would never hit me in front of a third person, so she asked for the money in my pocket. I handed it out to her knowing that I'll be facing big trouble right after the representative leaves. My mom paid the representative and apologized to her for my bad doings, the representative left and my heart was in my mouth.
My mom was enraged with me and started beating the pulp out of me. 5 minutes forward and I'm black and blue. Never had my mom ever punished or hit me. This was very rare, completely unexpected!
My nose started bleeding, it was not due to her beating, but it was a common thing in summer for my nose to bleed and that's when my dad stopped my mom from hitting me. He laid me on my back with a pillow under my shoulder and started patting the top of my head with water. He knew the heat had gotten the better of me. My mom stood there just watching me bleed profusely.
My dad accused mom for beating me until I bled but she knew it was because of the heat. She said "Why are you turning out to be a thief? This is the last time you are stealing something".
She taught me the hard way and that was the last time I stole something from a supermarket.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers who are always on the run to mould their child's character!
